I've been managing my small municipality's website for 16 years and never hit a dead end with Joomla until now, so this is my first request for help on this forum. I apologize in advanced for the lengthy post.
I upgraded a copy of our website from Joomla 4.4 to 5, it worked smoothly without major problems.

For Joomla up to 4.4 I had been using the CW Multicategories extension but Joomla 5 is not supported and the business apparently has been dormant for a while, plus I read that tags can basically give you the same functionality, so I thought the upgrade is a good occasion to make the switch.
As you can see the website consists of three parts in the main menu module: Verwaltung (the administrative part), plus a main menu entry for both parts of our village (Neuching, Ottenhofen) with local topics. All main menu modules have their own menu module on the left side. So far I've been using category lists for menu items that display lists, but to check out tags I switched the content for the menu item Ottenhofen/Gewerberegister from a category list to a compact list of tagged items (in this case articles).
The list displays in the correct menu (Ottenhofen) with the red background, but once I click on an article in the list the menu switches to the blue colors of the Verwaltung main menu. I've been searching the forum and the web but haven't found a solution. Most suggestions say use a menu item with a list of tagged items, but that is what I am doing already. It seems I am missing a fundamental point or I am totally wrong about the nature and the possibilities of tags? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
